Brisbane Art Galleries

Article written by Valeria Lasso.

There are endless reasons why someone could and should visit an art gallery. Maybe you want to see some new art. It could be a cute date to go on with your partner. Sometimes you just need an escape; a place to get away and be in your own thoughts. Well, let me tell you that art galleries are probably one of the best places you could consider going to.

They often portray new art and frequently change their exhibits. If you went to a gallery a month ago, you can go again this month and there’s a pretty decent chance that you’ll see some new pieces. Another great thing about art galleries is that they often have a very cosy and homey feeling to them. You can’t help feeling comfortable and safe when you’re inside them.

If you live in Brisbane and don’t know what galleries to go to, worry no more. I’m going to tell you a bit about some great art galleries in Brisbane that you can visit this month, or any month for that matter.

Without further delays, here they are:

Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane

Now, if you have not heard or been to this gallery already, have you ever even been to the city? It’s literally the huge building in the middle of the city. It's centred that if you open Google maps, type in ‘GOMA’ and zoom out, the red pin will be right under the S in the Brisbane title. I’m not even kidding, guys.

But in case you haven’t been to GOMA or heard of it before, I’d love to tell you more about it. It is an art gallery – duh – with over 17,000 works of historical, modern, and contemporary art! They display diverse Australian and international pieces all over their walls and exhibits.

As someone that has been to GOMA, I can tell you that it’s a maze filled with art, and every corner you turn has something worth looking at.

This is one of those galleries that you can frequent because they are constantly changing the exhibits.
