It can be hard to find things to do with your kids to keep them entertained during the school holidays. So why not let someone else do the hard work? See a show, let the performers on stage do the hard work and have the kids say thank you for the treat. Here are nine ideas for shows you can take the kids to these school holidays.
The 78-Storey Treehouse
From the much-adored book by Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton comes a play full of laughs, joy and fun! Come join Terry and Andy, two boys who live in a giant 78-storey tree house! Mr. Big Shot comes to make a movie about their treehouse with lots of laughs along the way. Full of crazy scenes and lots of smiles it’s definitely worth a look, especially for fans of the books.

Mister Maker Returns! Live in Concert
Mister Maker is a well-known name for anyone with kids who love craft. He's once again back in Queensland, Australia for the school holidays. In his live stage show, he'll bring arts and craft to life. It is full of fun interactions as well as "The Shapes” and the Mister Maker dancer. Even if you don’t make it to a show check out Mister Maker online for quick, easy and simple craft activities to do with your kids.

The Arrival
The Arrival is a story by an Australian author, set in the fictional world full of wonder and magic. Using astonishing props and puppets, the story tells the tale of a man who has fled his homeland to a strange new world full of strangers and strange sights. Overall, it is a wonderful use of props, puppets and people to tell a story of importance.

Disney On Ice: 100 Years of Magic
Who doesn’t love the magic of Disney? Once again, Disney on Ice comes to town and show us the stories of Disney which have been going for 100 years! Join not just the Disney Princesses but the crew from Toy Story, The Lion King, Aladdin and Finding Nemo, along with Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootopia opening up the show for the first time. Let’s not forget these charters are brought to life by very talented ice skaters. A great show to see if you want to see a mix of everything Disney.

Out of the Box Festival
If you’re looking for a day full of fun for under-eights in the heart of Brisbane, Out of the Box is for you. Out of the Box is five days full of activities, exhibition, in-theatre experience and workshops. It is full of no stop fun performances from around the world, including Air Play from New York and Guru Dudu from Melbourne, with his silent disco walking tours or Jarjum Life Museum which was curated by Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. This is a wide variety of things to see and do and is well worth a look.

Captivating Covers: A Series of Immersive Journeys by Brisbane Gang Show
Ready to see a big show full of passion and a big cast full of enthusiasm? Well, Gang show is for you! What is Gang Show you ask? Well if you’ve not been a member of Scouts Queensland or Girl Guides Queensland it is likely you have not heard of Gang Show. Gang Show is a group of over 140 Girl Guides and Scouts aged 9 to 25 who each year put on a show during the Queensland school holidays filled with songs, jokes and lots of fun. It’s great for the family with laughs for all ages and sizes. The show never stops with songs, dance and talented performers. It's an enjoyable show if you are looking for something you haven't seen before and want something the whole family can simply enjoy.

A Day Out with Thomas
If you’re looking for a more interactive performance have a look at the Day Out with Thomas at the Workshops Rail Museum. A great day out full of fun train-based activities for any train lover and their families, it's a fun-packed day with a special story time performance from the Fat Controller. It’s a full day full of fun activities with Thomas alongside the other exhibits and activities at the Workshop Rail Museum. All are included in tickets.

Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium
For a show more out of this world, you can always go see a show at Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium. The Planetarium has ten different animated shows for a general audience alongside the exhibit at the Planetarium and four that are perfect for kids these school holidays including; Perfect Little Planet, Tycho to the Moon and Secret of the Cardboard Rocket. If you haven’t been before it’s worth a look and is a fun place to explore and learn about our universe.

Peppa Pig
For those of a younger age, a show worth seeing is Peppa Pig's Surprise. A show using large life-size puppets to tell the story of Peppa and George trying to guess what special surprise Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig have in store. A great idea for little ones who are fans of the show. It is full of fun interactive games and, of course, surprises.
